“Those who err in spirit shall acquire understanding, and those who find fault shall receive instruction.”
(Isaiah 29:24)
“With power comes great responsibility,”- Uncle Ben, from Spider-Man.
In the beginning Peter Parker heard the words his uncle spoke, but didn’t take it to heart. It wasn’t until later that he learned to not take these words for granted. We, on some level, are Peter Parker. We have heard the words God has provided us, but have we taken them to heart?
Have we tried to change, live as He instructed, and work on ourselves to become better in His image every day? Or do we tell ourselves we are doing enough or are complacent in our current prayer lives, saying we already do “so much”? Have we unknowingly blinded ourselves to what God is saying because it’s repeated to us often, or we’ve heard it before?
Beware complacency and tear yourself from the mundane aspect of your current prayer life. God is always telling us something every day and every hour, even if it’s a message we’ve already heard countless times before. It is our duty not only to listen but to follow through with what we hear. We must be wary of becoming numb or taking His word for granted.
Is there part of my prayer life I take for granted or would call it “mundane” (example: prayer for meals)?
Lord, give us insight to Your will for us and give us the endurance to continue to work on ourselves all the days of our lives. Amen.
